FAQs
1. Why did you vote to implement an Earned Income Tax (EIT)? I supported the EIT to diversify our township's revenue and build a more stable financial foundation for the future. This decision helps ensure that essential services like police, fire, and public works are securely funded without placing an excessive burden on property taxes. By having both residents who work and those who live here contribute, we are creating a more equitable and resilient financial model for Easttown.
2. What is your approach to managing new development in the township? My approach is to fight for the most responsible outcomes for residents while respecting property rights under our existing zoning laws. For complex projects like Berwyn Square, I focused on advocating for the best possible result for the community. Moving forward, I am dedicated to proactively updating our Open Space and Comprehensive Plans to better guide future growth and preserve the character of our community.
3. What have you done to ensure our police and fire services have the support they need? I have a consistent record of prioritizing public safety, from funding a second full-time traffic officer to improve road safety to ensuring we have a dedicated, professional police force. I was also a key supporter in the historic formation of the Tredyffrin Easttown Fire Department (TEFD), a major step in strengthening our emergency services through regional collaboration. Our first responders deserve our full support, and I am committed to providing them with the resources they need to keep us safe.
4. How are you working to protect Easttown's natural environment? Protecting our environment has been a top priority, which is why I led the creation of the Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) to guide our green initiatives. Through the successful EAC Tree Program, we are actively working to maintain and enhance our beautiful tree canopy for future generations. We have also installed rain gardens to manage stormwater naturally, demonstrating a commitment to practical and sustainable environmental stewardship.
5. Why do you believe Easttown needs a new Township Building? I envision a new Township Building that is efficient, fully accessible to all residents, and a source of community pride rather than a constant maintenance burden. A modern facility will improve the delivery of township services and, when connected to the development of a true Berwyn Town Square, it will create a vibrant civic heart for our community. This is a long-term investment in a more functional and community-focused Easttown.
6. How have you increased transparency and accessibility in our local government? I believe every resident should have easy access to their local government, which is why I championed the successful implementation of online and recorded Board of Supervisors meetings. This initiative makes it possible for all residents, regardless of their schedule, to stay informed and engaged with our work. I have also pushed for smaller but important changes, like standardized email signatures, to ensure all communication from the township is clear, professional, and accountable.
